Farewell to Siboney Lo, Chilean actress known for playing. Hidden in the Woods (En las Afueras de la Ciudad), the extreme horror film directed by Patricio Valladares in 2012.
According to reports from the Chilean website SoyChile, in March last year, Siboney Lo had undergone surgery for a brain tumor that took her life last April 13.
Siboney Lo Chávez studied acting at the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile in Santiago and worked until 2014 in several feature films such as Fragmentos Urbanos, The migra, Juego de Verano, En las Afueras de la Ciudad and Road Kill.
Among the awards, nominations and accolades she has received is the Palme d'Or for "Best Latin American Actress" for her performance in the drama/comedy El Leyton" at the VII Miami Latin Film Festival (2003).
For her "Contribution to the Promotion of the Arts," she was named an Honorary Citizen of the City of Iquique.
By July 2020 she had realized her dream and joined the fire department in Iquique, where she received her traditional baptism, enlisting in the volunteer cadre of the National Fire Department.
We remember her for her role in the atrocious Hidden in the Woods, extreme horror directed by Patricio Valladares (Dirty Love) on a screenplay by Italian writer Andrea Cavaletto (Doll Syndrome, Dirty Love, Xpiation). In the film, distributed in Italy by TetroVideo, Siboney Lo plays Ana, one of two sisters raised in solitary confinement and subjected to repeated sexual violence and humiliation by a father mixed up in the drug trade. After years of mistreatment, the girls will find the courage to escape the house of horrors, but a series of events will push them toward a much murkier fate.
