Short Frankenstein is a short horror mockumentary film directed by Nicolo Magno, a 16-year-old debutant who is passionate about the genre (with a distinct fondness for the films of Quentin Tarantino and Rob Zombie) and the P.O.V. technique in horror.
In Nicolo Magno's project, Alberto Bogo (interview here), known for directing Extreme Jukebox, a delirious and addictive slasher horror film about to be released by the renowned Troma Entertainment. While waiting for the distribution of his film, Alberto Bogo therefore decided to return to the set for Short Frankenstein both as a screenwriter and executive producer but also as an actor. A choice motivated certainly by the determination of the very young Nicolo Magno, with whom Bogo said he would like to collaborate in the future as well.
Of the screenplay of Short Frankenstein, in addition to Bogo, the director Nicolò Magno himself was in charge along with Andrea Lionetti. Also taking part in the making of the short film were Davide Riccardi and Riccardo Storto, Alberto Bogo's two collaborators who were responsible, respectively, for the special effects and music for Extreme Jukebox. They are also joined by Daniele Ciampi, who edited parts of the EJ and also the special contents of the dvd of the same film.
The story of Short Frankenstein focuses on Elena, a young college student who is often filmed by Arturo, her video-loving boyfriend. After a few months, however, their relationship breaks up and the young man goes off the deep end. One day Elena reaches the home of the creepy Dr. Godwin for study purposes....
The film's cast includes Elena Palombo, Maurizio Donatelli and Alberto Bogo.
Short Frankenstein was shot in just two days and, according to Bogo, is “an original and interesting film.” The director himself reveals that the short film will participate in various film festivals both in Italy and abroad starting in 2015.
