After a stalemate caused by Covid-19 and which also led to the closure of theaters, we return to report the monthly scheduling of horror films in Italian theaters that have finally been reopened to the public with proper precautions.
This month they make their theatrical debut The Vigil (Sept. 10) and Jack in The Box (Sept. 17).
Written and directed by Keith Thomas, The Vigil: He won't let you go (USA - 2019) debuts in theaters today thanks to BiM Distribution. The Vigil is a horror film about the Jewish figure of the Shomer, the janitor who watches over the deceased until burial to protect them from evil spirits.
Plot: frail Yakov (Dave Davis), a former Hassid, is hired by Rabbi Reb Shulem (Menashe Lustig) as a shomer to watch over the body of Litvak, a Holocaust survivor and a member of the religious community recently abandoned by the boy himself. Reluctantly accepting the job because he is short of money, Yakov reaches the home of the deceased but, once at the site, the young shomer will find that it will not be the usual wake.
In the cast: Dave Davis, Adam Margules, Menashe Lustig, Malky Goldman, Lynn Cohen and Fred Melamed.

With Adler Entertainment, on the other hand, comes to theaters on September 17. Jack In The Box (UK - 2019), l'horror scritto e diretto da Lawrence Fowler (Curse of the Witch's Doll).
La storia del film vede protagonista un ragazzo alle prese con una "Jack In The Box", una scatola costruita in Francia per contenere entità malvage.
Plot: ad un museo viene donata un'antica Jack In The Box ma subito dopo Casey (Ethan Taylor), il membro dello staff, si accorge che il raccapricciante burattino clown contenuto al suo interno, ha vita propria.
As he discovers that his colleagues are inexplicably dying one after another, the young man will try to end the nightmare lest he become another victim of the box curse.
