For the month of September, only two films in the horror genre are scheduled in Italian theaters viz. Man in the Dark by Fede Alvarez (September 8) e Blair Witch (September 21), the sequel to The Blair Witch Project: The Mystery of the Blair Witch (1999). Released in U.S. theaters on August 26, Man in The Dark quickly climbed the U.S. box office chart, dominating the weekend's top ten.
Distributed by Sony, Man in the Dark is the new film directed by Fede Alvarez, a Uruguayan director who in 2013 directed the remake of the cult The House.
The screenplay of Man in the Dark was written by Alvarez in collaboration with Rodo Sayagues.
Plot: Money, Alex and Rocky are three friends who turn burglar out of boredom. The three decide to sneak into the home of a blind man (Stephen Lang) thinking that his blindness will facilitate the heist. What the three thugs do not know is that the man does not need sight to be able to defend himself.
The cast of Man in the Dark consists of Jane Levy (The House), Dylan Minnette (Blood Story), Daniel Zovatto (It Follows), Stephen Lang (Avatar), May Graves, Sergej Onopko, Katia Bokor, Jon Donahue, and Brak Little.

Adam Wingard (You're Next, The Guest, A Horrible Way to Die) directs Blair Witch, the sequel to The Blair Witch Project, on a script edited by Simon Barrett.
Plot: Together with his friends, Lane (Wes Robinson) reaches Black Hills Forest, Maryland, the place where his sister Heather Donahue disappeared many years earlier while filming a documentary about the Blair Witch. In the course of the night, however, a strange presence will cause panic among the boys, and by the time they realize that the Blair Witch is not just a legend, it will be too late.
In the cast: James Allen McCune, Callie Hernandez, Brandon Scott, Valorie Curry, Corbin Reid and Wes Robinson. Production was handled by Roy Lee, Steven Schneider, Keith Calder and Jessica Wu.
