Sweetness Extrema (Italy - 2015), the Italian sci-fi/comedy/horror genre feature film is Official Selection for the "Best Trash Feature Film" category at the second edition of the The Optical Theatre Festival 2016.
Made with zero budget, digitally animated and starring rag dolls, Sweetness Extrema is produced and directed by Alberto Genovese (The Invasion of the Astronauts) for a screenplay by Massimo Vavassori.
The film was released in America under the title "Sick Sock Monsters from Outer Space" thanks to Kaufman & Herz's well-known "Troma" label.
Sweetness Extrema is an old-style sci-fi with tragic components to which the comedy and horror genres are mixed. The cast features only one real-life actor namely Eddy Endolf aka Marco Antonio Andolfi, performer and director of the cult trash horror The cross from the seven stones. The protagonists of this delirious story are Sock Monsters i.e. puppets made from recycled materials such as old socks, bottle caps and rags.
Plot: Captain Pixws and his ramshackle crew are traveling through space aboard their starship Cargo. The team must fulfill a mission at the behest of King Grigorio (Eddy Endolf): deliver a stock of tanning showers in honor of the martyr Efisio Masciago.
For the former stoned rockers, this will be the most important adventure of their lives.
The film was officially selected in several festivals as "Best Film" Weird & Wrong category at Broken Knuckle Film Festival (2015) and "Best Film" at Sci-Fi London (2016).
