On the saga's Twitter profile Scream a photo was released from the set showing a carved pumpkin dedicated to Ghostface to wish him a happy holiday. Filming for the new chapter is currently underway.
Written by James Vanderbilt (Zodiac) and Guy Busick (Till Death Do Us Part, Castle Rock), Scream 5 is directed by Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, the directors of Ready or Not.
The new installment of the franchise continues the story conceived by Wes Craven, and in the iconic role of Sidney Prescott there will again be Neve Campbell. The Canadian actress will star alongside two other main actors from the saga namely David Arquette and Courteney Cox, who will play deputy sheriff Dewey Riley and journalist Gale Weathers, respectively.
The three actors are joined by Jack Quaid, Melissa Barrera, Jenna Ortega, Dylan Minnette, Mikey Madison, and Mason Gooding.
In the crew of Scream 5 Kevin Williamson, the franchise's longtime screenwriter, appears here as executive producer. William Sherak, James Vanderbilt and Paul Neinstein, on the other hand, are the film's producers along with Radio Silence, a trio consisting of Matthew Bettinelli-Olpin, Tyler Gillett and Chad Villela.
Scream 5 will be released in 2021 through Paramount Pictures.
Directed by Wes Craven, Scream (1996) is the first film in the horror/slasher saga consisting of four chapters. It stars Sidney Prescott, a girl haunted by a psychopathic serial killer who wears a Halloween costume (Ghostface).
