Initially set for March 31, 2023, the release date of Scream 6 has been advanced to March 10 by Paramount Pictures.
James Vanderbilt and Guy Busick are involved in the project, which still lacks an official title, along with Radio Silence (Till Death Do Us Part), respectively the screenwriters and directors of Scream (2022).
The story features the four survivors of the Ghostface murders, who leave Woodsboro behind to start a new life.
Returning to the cast are Jenna Ortega, Melissa Barrera, Mason Gooding, Jasmin Savoy Brown, and Courteney Cox.
Also confirmed are Samara Weaving (Ready or Not, The Babysitter), Tony Revolori, Jack Champion, Liana Liberato, Devyn Nekoda, Josh Segarra and Henry Czerny (Ready or Not).
Neve Campbell, on the other hand, the actress best known for her starring role as Sidney Prescott in the horror/slasher franchise Scream initiated in 1996 by Wes Craven, abandoned the project.
The recent Scream (U.S.-2022), the fifth installment in the saga, debuted in theaters last January gaining favorable reception from audiences and critics and, most importantly, a good box office performance (the film grossed more than $62 million in the United States and about $106 worldwide).
Part of Scream 6 will be set in New York City and part in Canada.
