Among the protagonists of Scream 5 Neve Campbell might be in it. This was revealed by the actress herself during an interview on Rotten Tomatoes. The star of Wes Craven's celebrated saga revealed that she is in talks to return to the role of Sidney Prescott in this new chapter, adding that she has been approached by directors Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett.
Apparently the project will be an homage to Wes Craven because Neve Campbell goes on to say "Initially I was very apprehensive about being involved in another chapter of Scream without Wes because he was a genius and that's the reason his films are so successful but the filmmakers have shown a great appreciation of his work and really want to honor his work. And that means a lot to me“.
Scream 5 is already in development, and filming is expected to begin in May. Directing is Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, the directors of Ready or Not (Ready or Not) while Kevin Williamson, the franchise's longtime screenwriter, also appears on the crew, here serving as executive producer. William Sherak, James Vanderbilt and Paul Neinstein, on the other hand, are the film's producers.
Directed by Wes Craven, Scream (1996) is the first film in the horror/slasher saga consisting of four chapters. It stars Sidney Prescott, a girl haunted by a psychopathic serial killer who wears a Halloween costume (Ghostface).
