Scream 2 begins with a "meta-cinematic" sequence: some young people, in a movie theater, watch a film called Stab, inspired by the events that terrorized Sidney Prescott in the quiet town of Woodsboro. During the screening, a serial killer commits some murders. Someone else continues the trail of blood....
Sidney, after the tragic events of the previous year, has transferred to Windsor College where everything seems to be going well. The tragic events she had encountered are now only a distant memory.
But for Sidney the nightmare comes again, perhaps in even crueler guise....
Here it is, the sequel, also produced in the U.S., which was definitely avoidable and brought the first Scream into disrepute.
This film is incredibly predictable. There is nothing original, the deaths are predictable, and the whole thing traces, for the worse, its predecessor.
If the first one was engaging and suspenseful, this one appears dull and repetitive. In any case, even here there is no shortage of bloodshed and violent deaths.
In my opinion, produced only because of the success of the first one and thus a matter of box office. However, the film, at the box office, failed to make as much money as the first one, and watching it you will get an idea of why...
It pains one to think that Wes Craven, the creator of Nightmare and Freddy Krueger, might be involved in this mere commercial operation.
The only thing that may be, more or less, interesting about this film is the enigma revolving around the identity of the killer.
No doubt negligible!
