Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark is the film adaptation of the novel series of the same name (consisting of three volumes and published between 1981 and 1991) written by Alvin Schwartz and illustrated by Stephen Gammell.

Fascinated since he was a teenager by the stories of Alvin Schwartz, Guillermo del Toro, who wrote the screenplay for the film Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark together with Patrick Melton and Marcus Dunstan (formerly the screenwriters of four chapters in the saga of Saw - L’enigmista and currently engaged in writing the upcoming reboot of Halloween), brings the scariest horror stories ever to the big screen.
Plot: America, 1968. For generations the small town of Mill Valley has been terrorized by the Bellows family. It is in their mansion on the edge of town that Sarah, a girl with horrible secrets, has fixed her tormented existence with notes, turning it into a series of frightening stories written in a book. Her tales will become all too real for a group of teenagers who go on a quest to discover the girl's terrifying home.
