After the official poster (link to news story), four TV commercials of Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark, the horror project in which Guillermo del Toro (The Devil's Thorn, Hellboy, The Shape of Water) appears as both producer and co-writer.
Directed by André Øvredal (Trollhunter, Autopsy), Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark is an adaptation of the novel series of the same name written by Alvin Schwartz and illustrated by Stephen Gammell.
The film will debut in US theaters on August 9, 2019.
Stella Michaels (Zoe Margaret Colletti) is a girl haunted by the disappearance of her mother on the night of October 31 0ctober. The young woman suspects that her father has knowledge of the occurrence.
Years later, Stella and her friends are victims of a Halloween prank that ends very badly.
The fault lies with a vengeful spirit who uses his terrifying stories to haunt the teenagers when they begin to investigate the disappearance of local children.

The screenplay of Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark is curated by Guillermo Del Toro in collaboration with John August (The Chocolate Factory, Frankenweenie), Marcus Dunstan (Saw, The Collection), Patrick Melton (Piranha 3DD, The Neighbour), Dan and Kevin Hageman.
