Darren Lynn Bousman, the director of the new Saw, confirmed on his Twitter profile that filming of the reboot will begin any day now. Produced by Mark Burg and Oren Koules, Saw features Darren Lynn Bousman, already the author of three sequels in the franchise (Saw II, Saw III and Saw IV), as director.
The screenplay, on the other hand, is written by Pete Goldfinger in collaboration with Josh Stolberg (Jigsaw) and is based on a story devised by U.S. actor and comedian Chris Rock, who appears in this project in the cast but also as an executive producer along with Daniel Heffner (the saga's executive producer) and also the creators of Saw That is, James Wan and Leigh Whannell.
Joe Drake, the president of Lionsgate's Motion Picture Group, said the new film will reinvent the world of serial killer Jigsaw and will be as distressing as any of the chapters in the famous saga. Joe Drake further added that the story, although related to the original material, will be twisted and enriched by Chris Rock's creative vision.
Start shooting the new Saw film in just a few days. Something I never thought I would be typing again! Gotta be honest. No one is ready for the insanity about to bleed out on screen!
