It is currently in pre-production Saphisme, the first feature film by Francesco Mirabelli, an Italian director who has behind him the short films Antithesis, The Horror of Bernard and Edema. The screenplay for the film is by Annamaria Lorusso and Francesco Mirabelli himself. Specifically, Saphisme is a horror film that will deal with red magic and pay homage to past homegrown cinema by focusing on the giallo genre.
Thus, the film will be presented as a hybrid in which two distinct genres will be merged and to which the paranormal component will be added. Filming of the film will begin in January-February 2016, meanwhile the first casting phase will be launched in late August in Agrigento. This will be followed by two more sessions to be held in different cities, namely Palermo and Rome.
Abstract: Mara is romantically attached to Ilary so morbidly that she becomes obsessive about him. She decides to resort to ritualistic experiences in order not to lose her love, but Ilary, feeling too much pressure, decides to break off the relationship. Abandoned and depressed, Mara prepares a love potion to bind her to her forever.
Meanwhile, she will accidentally find herself investigating a series of crimes related to red magic and the legend of the poetess Sappho.
