After nearly 40 years since the excellent Henry, rain of blood (aka Henry: Portrait of a Serial Killer), actor Michael Rooker and director John McNaughton return to work together in a new project.
The film that will reunite Michael Rooker and John McNaughton, the historic duo from the 1986 cult hit, is titled Road Rage and, according to what the director revealed, it will be very hard-hitting.
According to reports from Deadline, Road Rage will be the first in a long series of films.
Described as a cross between Dexter and private justice films of the 1970s, Road Rage is the story of a serial killer who eliminates those who deserve to die. The killer is a kind of modern hero who protects the innocent and kills the guilty.
John McNaughton expressed his great desire to work with Michael Hooker again, "I would have liked to work with Michael Rooker again since the days of Henry, rain of blood But we never got the chance. In the end, I wrote a story that took the genre in a whole new direction ... Michael Rooker as Stony: he drives a truck ... and kills people. Stony is a different serial killer, and now he comes home after 20 years, to settle the score with the past."
Producer Tim Perell, on the other hand, added: "John McNaughton and Michael Rooker aim to create a transgressive and shocking film under the banner of avant-garde art and genre. Like Henry, rain of blood also Road Rage will be ahead of its time: a disturbing yet liberating reflection on contemporary American culture."
Recall that the story of Henry, rain of blood is loosely based on the life of Henry Lee Lucas (1936-2001), an American serial killer accused of 214 murders including that of his mother. The man was sentenced to death but died in prison due to cardiac arrest.
