Directed by Magnus Blomdahl, Revisiting Melancholie der Engel (Sweden - 2017) is a 60-minute documentary film that delves into the brutal and chilling Melacholie der Engel (Germany - 2009) by Marian Dora (Cannibal). Marian Dora, a filmmaker who uses several aliases and does not like to show herself in public (during the interview her face is constantly obscured by pixels), is also personally involved in the film.
Revisiting Melancholie der Engel is mainly dedicated to a niche portion of the horrorphile audience, to fans of German underground cinema, in particular, to the extreme title of the anonymous filmmaker toward whom Magnus Blomdahl seems to have a real adoration.
In fact, this documentary contains the cut scenes, all the locations (Marian Dora himself showed them to Magnus Blomdahl for Revisiting Melancholie der Engel) and a general discussion of Melancholie der Engel, extreme horror film thick with atrocities, perversions, depravity and devoid of morality.
The sixty minutes of Revisiting Melancholie der Engel alternate portions of the interview with inspections and scenes from the 2009 film.
