Almost five years after the completion of the fantasy-action/horror Iron Sky (inspired by Nazi UFO legend and conspiracy theories), Timo Vuorensola is directing its sequel titled Iron Sky: The Coming Race. In Iron Sky (Finlandia, Germania, Australia - 2012), i nazisti si stabiliscono sulla Luna dopo essere stati sconfitti nel 1945. Qui costruiscono una base segreta e si preparano a conquistare la Terra.
In Iron Sky: The Coming Race (Finlandia, Germania, Belgio - 2018), la storia si avvia vent'anni dopo gli eventi del primo capitolo. La trama infatti è la seguente: dopo due decenni, l'ex base nazista costruita sulla Luna è diventata l'unico rifugio degli umani sopravvissuti. La Terra è stata devastata dalla guerra nucleare ma, sepolto nelle sue viscere, risiede un potere che potrebbe salvare il genere umano oppure estinguerlo. La verità sull'umanità sarà rivelata quando un vecchio nemico condurrà i più coraggiosi in un'avventura pericolosa dove, per salvare gli ultimi umani, dovranno combattere i Vril, un'antica razza rettiliana mutante e il suo esercito di dinosauri.
Udo Kier, Julia Dietze and Stephanie Paul reprise their roles in. Iron Sky: The Coming Race. They are also joined by Lara Rossi, Vladimir Burlakov, Kit Dale, Tom Green, Edward Judge, Martin Swabey, Emily Atack, John Flanders, Stephanie Paul, James Quinn, Jukka Hilden, Lloyd Li, Amanda Wolzak, Antoine Plaisant, Vasco De Beukelaer, Tero Kaukomaa, and Timo Vuorensola himself.
The screenplay for the film is by Dalan Musson.
Iron Sky: The Coming Race is produced by Iron Sky Universe and co-produced by 27 Films Production in collaboration with Potemkino. Iron Sky: The Ark, the third installment of the saga, is currently in pre-production.
