Thanks to IGN come the first official images of Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City (Germania, USA, Canada - 2021), il reboot diretto da Johannes Roberts, il regista di 47 Meters and The Strangers: Prey at Night.
The film will debut in US theaters on November 24, 2021.
As previously stated by the director, the adaptation will focus on the first two video games and will be faithful to the main setting of the famous survival horror video game saga: in fact, everything will take place in 1998 in Raccoon City. The film will also feature links to Capcom's classic survival horror games.
Johannes Roberts added: "Con questo film volevo tornare ai primi due videogiochi originali e ricreare la terrificante esperienza che ho vissuto quando li ho giocati per la prima volta. Allo stesso tempo volevo raccontare la storia di una piccola città americana decadente...".
Recently he added: "Volevo una Raccoon City che sembrasse come la città de The Hunter: a ghost town forgotten by the rest of the world... I really wanted to go back to the horror roots and focus on a movie made of atmosphere and terror and not unbridled action as in the saga Resident Evil con Milla Jovovich".
The new Resident Evil stars Kaya Scodelario (Crawl), Hannah John-Kamen (Ant-Man and the Wasp), Robbie Amell, Tom Hopper (The Umbrella Academy), Chad Rook, Avan Jogia (Zombieland: Double Tap), Marina Mazepa, Neal McDonough and Donal Logue (Silent Night).
Plot: Raccoon City, once home to the pharmaceutical giant Umbrella Corporation, is now reduced to a decaying Midwestern town. The company's exodus has reduced it to a desolate place that harbors, beneath the surface, something extremely evil.
Awakened to evil, the citizens will undergo a terrible mutation, and a small group of survivors must join forces in order to uncover the truth behind the Umbrella Corporation and try to survive the night.
The first image captures Avan Jogia and Kaya Scodelario as Leon Kennedy and Claire Redfield, respectively, the main characters in the second installment of the video game. In the second picture, Tom Hopper is Albert Wesker; Chad Rook is Richard Aiken; Hannah John-Kamen plays Jill Valentine while Robbie Amell is Chris Redfield.
