resident_evil_apocalypseThree years have passed since 2001 and so many people, especially fans of the video game who waited with warm and tenacious trepidation for this sequel that, according to some rumors was to be called with the subtitle of Nemesis and instead landed in all theaters under the nickname of Apocalypse-which in truth has very little to do with what is seen on film.
So Alice's character returns, this time with something more than just the heroine ready to defend the world from evil forces: the T virus has altered her genetics, making her stronger and faster than any human.

Strangely enough, after the success of the first film, for this sequel, Anderson himself was not called in (who from rumors refused to direct the sequel but only to sign the screenplay) but Alexander Witt was hired: it must be said right away that as decent as the first film had been, incredibly bad and outsized turns out this sequel, going to touch on topics that have really little to do with the Resident Evil saga.
First of all we have to talk about the mimesis between the film and the video game: if in the first film the saga posed by Capcom was respected to some extent, here it is completely nettled. Alice continues to make her good impression but totally overshadowing the role of the second heroine, that Jill who in the Playstation world solved most of the situation while here she is totally offside by Jovovich's beautiful figure.
The zombies play the fools this time: on the one hand, they are very poorly characterized, with truly obscene makeup while on the other hand, roaming the destroyed streets of Racoon City is the Nemesis, a creature genetically modified for the sole purpose of cleaning up the city's streets both from the special forces of the Umbrella Corporation and to confront Alice in a deadly confrontation. At the base of this monster, dark overlords plot to see who between the two creatures (the beauty and the beast), is actually the stronger soldier. And here the final crack, relatively little remains of the movie based on the video game.
Alice seems to possess the same characteristics seen for NEO and company in the three films of the Matrix series, with the spectacular sequence of the woman who, overcoming gravity, runs up the building from top to bottom to get to the ground with a somersault and a series of shotgun blasts toward the "bad guys"-simply obscene.

The only thing that really saves itself is the figure of the Nemesis, a mighty creature armed with a missile launcher and machine gun wheel that really has the strength to stand out above all the other characters, even of Alice herself who has become more of a cyborg woman than the beautiful figure she had been in the first film. What really discourages is the desire on the part of the production company (Sony), to make two more films inspired by the Resident Evil saga, we can only expect what horrors (in a negative sense), they will manage to pull out of it.
Missed masterpiece in the true sense of the word, with the first film, we could have had two worthy films on our hands from the horror video game par excellence and instead human deficiency never ends... too bad, let's be content with the first work and cross our fingers for the sequels to come in the future.
