Constantin Film is working on a new chapter of the franchise Resident Evil. According to reports from Deadline, it is a reboot to be directed by Johannes Roberts (47 Meters, The Strangers: Prey at Night) and some of the cast has already been confirmed.
In the new Resident Evil, Kaya Scodelario (Crawl) will be Claire Redfield; Hannah John-Kamen (Ant-Man and the Wasp) will play Jill Valentine; Robbie Amell will be Chris Redfield; Tom Hopper (The Umbrella Academy) will play Albert Wesker while Avan Jogia (Zombieland: Double Tap) and Neal McDonough will be Leon S. Kennedy and William Birkin, respectively.
The director and Constantin Fim said that the adaptation will focus on the first two video games and will be faithful to the main setting of the famous saga: in fact, everything will take place in 1998 in Raccoon City. The film will also feature links to Capcom's classic survival horror games.
Johannes Roberts added: "With this film vole I really wanted to go back to the first two original video games and recreate the terrifying experience I had when I first played them. At the same time, I wanted to tell the story of a small, dying American town.“.
Directed by Paul W. S. Anderson in 2002, Resident Evil is the first film in the film saga Resident Evil inspired by the survival horror video game series of the same name produced by Capcom.
The heroine of the franchise is played by Milla Jovovich.
The 2002 film has five sequels: Resident Evil: Apocalypse (2004), Resident Evil: Extinction (2007), Resident Evil: Afterlife (2010), Resident Evil: Retribution (2012) e Resident Evil: The Final Chapter (2017).
