Ahead of its U.S. premiere on October 15 at Screamfest, the U.S. release of Rabid, the remake of David Cronenberg's film of the same name. Rabid will arrive in theaters and on VOD platforms on December 13, 2019.
Directing this horror film are Jen and Sylvia Soska (American Mary and See No Evil 2), who have hinted that their film is not only a remake but is also an homage to more of the famous director's cinematic works, including Inseparable (1988).
Plot: Rose (Laura Vandervoort) is horribly disfigured following a car accident. To regain her lost beauty, she undergoes an experimental plastic surgery treatment that will, however, transform her into a bloodthirsty monster, a being that will unleash a devastating pandemic.
In the cast of the new Rabid there are Laura Vandervoort (Saw: Legacy), Heidi von Palleske (Lovebirds), Ben Hollingsworth, Mackenzie Gray (Legion), Hanneke Talbot (Playing Dead), CM Punk, A.J. Mendez and Tristan Risk (American Mary, Frankenstein Created Bikers). The latter will play as many as three roles.
The Soskas wrote the script for the film in collaboration with John Serge.
