Laura Vandervoort recently joined the cast of Rabid, il remake dell'omonimo film horror girato da David Cronenberg nel 1977. Alla regia di questo rifacimento (in the pipeline since 2016) we find sisters Jen and Sylvia Soska, authors of American Mary, See No Evil 2 and Puppet Killer.
In the horror field, Laura Vandervoort is known for her role in the recent Saw: Legacy (aka Jigsaw) by Michael and Peter Spierig.
In Rabid, l’attrice interpreterà la protagonista Rose (ruolo ricoperto da Marilyn Chambers nel film del 1977), una giovane donna che rimane orribilmente sfigurata in seguito ad un incidente stradale. Per riavere la bellezza perduta, la donna si sottopone a un trattamento sperimentale. Qualche tempo dopo l'intervento però Rose manifesterà un comportamento molto strano. Trasformatasi in un mostro assetato di sangue, la ragazza infetterà tutti coloro che avranno la sfortuna di incontrarla. Il contagio inizia a dilagare, incontrollabile.
Shout! Studios has acquired the U.S. rights to the project. The film is produced by Back 40 Pictures and Telefilm Canada in collaboration with Ontario Media Development Corporation. John Vidette (Somerville House Releasing), Paul Lalonde and Michael Walker (Cloud Ten Picturesh and Stoney Lake Entertainment) are co-producing.
