Finally, we are back to talking about Pride and Prejudice and Zombies., a film with a long gestation. In fact, the first DarkVeins articles pertaining to this project, which now seemed shelved, date back to 2010 - 2011 and can be found at the bottom of the article.
Pride and Prejudice and Zombies. is the film adaptation of Seth Grahame-Smith's book, Pride and Prejudice and Zombies. (2009), a hilarious parody-horror novel based in turn on the famous opera Pride and Prejudice (1813) by English author Jane Austen. The story follows the original plot of Jane Austen's novel while inserting the horror component. In fact, the story is moved to an England populated by zombies.
To direct Pride and Prejudice and Zombies. will be American director Burr Steers, for the first time involved in a genre film.
The story is by Steers and David O. Russell while production will be handled by Natalie Portman, Sean McKittrick, Brian Oliver, Marc Butan, Annette Savitch, Tyler Thompson and Allison Shearmur.
The film is currently in pre-production. For now, the first confirmed cast names are Lily James (as Elizabeth Bennet), Bella Heathcote (Dark Shadows), and Sam Riley (Maleficent). Jack Huston will probably also be in it.
