With Searchlight Pictures, the official Italian trailer for. Poor creatures! (aka Poor Things), the horror-tinged film by Yorgos Lanthimos, the director of The Lobster and The sacrifice of the sacred deer.
Produced by Searchlight and written by Tony McNamara, Poor creatures! is the film adaptation of the novel Poor things (1992) by Alasdair Gray and will arrive in Italian theaters on October 12, 2023 distributed by The Walt Disney Company Italy.
The film stars Emma Stone (Welcome to Zombieland), Mark Ruffalo (Avengers:Infinity War) and Willem Dafoe (Streets of Fire, The Lighthouse) and is rated "Rated-R" for strong and pervasive sexual content, graphic nudity, disturbing material, blood, violence and foul language.
The story is set in the Victorian age and focuses on horror but also on love and scientific discovery, recalling Frankenstein by Mary Shelley. Poor Things in fact features Bella (Emma Stone), a young woman brought back to life by Dr. Baxter, an eccentric yet brilliant scientist (Willem Dafoe).
Eager to learn and open up to the world, Bella runs away with Duncan Wedderburn (Mark Ruffalo), a slimy lawyer who leads a dissolute life. The man will drag her into overwhelming adventures as Bella tries to fight for equality and emancipation.
The cast also includes Margaret Qualley (Once Upon a Time...in Hollywood) and Christopher Abbott (It Comes at Night).
