The inhabitants of a small town become infected with an alien-derived virus tested by the FBI and turn into dangerous zombies. The area is quarantined by the military, and three boys who had been kidnapped for studies are abandoned within it. The three unfortunates will have to contend with a horde of rotting corpses and search for a way to escape.
Plaga Zombie - Mutant Zone is an amateur film made on a derisory budget that pays homage to Peter Jackson's great demented splatter films (Bad Taste and Brain Dead) and even Romerian ones. The crudeness of highly splatter special effects combined with amateur taste and an almost improvised cast stamped this film with incredible charm.
We will thus witness a variety of atrocities (quarterings, disembowelings, decapitations, amputations) shown with extreme irony and humor that will delight splatter movie fans.
Also funny and sympathetically ridiculous (because of the clothing) are the three protagonists of Plaga Zombie who fight on the streets of the city: John West (Berta Muñiz), a failed wrestler; Bill (Pablo Parés), a medical student; and Max (Hernán Sáez), a technology-loving "nerd."
The actors who embody the roles of Bill and Max are also the film's director and screenwriter, respectively.
A small masterpiece of dementia...
