Philip Granger, l'attore che ha interpretato lo sceriffo in Tucker and Dale vs Evil (2010), joined the cast of The Great Buddha Arrival (aka Daibutsu Kaikoju), the low-budget film about kaijū and in which suitmation and CGI will be featured. Produced and directed by Hiroto Yokokawa, The Great Buddha Arrival (Japan - 2018) is the reboot of Daibutsu Kokaiku (Japan - 1934), the first film about giant Japanese monsters.
Fra gli attori sono presenti anche alcune celebrità dei film di fantascienza giapponese come Akira Takarada (presente in sei film su Godzilla, compreso quello del 1954) e Peggy Neal, nota per aver recitato ne "I mostri della città sommersa" (1966) e "Odissea sulla Terra" (1967).

Philip Granger ha anche recitato in altri film horror come "Vampiri" (1988), "The Barber" e "Deadly Visions - La morte negli occhi".
The screenplay of The Great Buddha Arrival was written by Hiroto Yokokawa, Yuki Yonezawa and Kazuma Yoneyama while the music is by Hiromi Shinoda.
