Started filming of Pet Sematary, the new film adaptation of Stephen King's (1983) horror novel of the same name. This was revealed by co-director Dennis Widmyer on Twitter (photo below).
Produced by Steven Schneider, Lorenzo Di Bonaventura and Mark Vahradian, Pet Sematary features Kevin Kolsch and Dennis Widmyer, the directors of Starry Eyes (on DVD and Blu-ray in July with Midnight Factory.). The film will debut in U.S. theaters on April 5, 2019.
Plot of Pet Sematary: Louis Creed is a Chicago physician who moves to the small town of Ludlow, Maine, with his wife Rachel and their children Ellie and Gage. Their home, however, is located near an animal cemetery, a place where buried creatures come back to life.
In Pet Sematary Amy Seimetz plays Rachel while Jason Clarke is Louis Creed. Instead, we will see John Lithgow as Jud Crandall, the Creeds' elderly neighbor.
In the cast: Amy Seimetz (Alien: Covenant, The Killing, Stranger Things), Jason Clarke (The Widow Winchester), John Lithgow (Twilight Zone, Rise of the Planet of the Apes, Interstellar).
The screenplay of Pet Sematary was written by Jeff Buhler and David Kajganich.
Stephen King's celebrated novel already enjoys an extraordinary film adaptation. It is about Living cemetery directed by Mary Lambert in 1989. The director also authored the sequel Living Cemetery 2 (1992).
