Diretto da Ti West (The House of the Devil, The Innkeepers) in gran segreto, questo nuovo capitolo è incentrato sul personaggio di Pearl, l’assassina interpretata da Mia Goth (Marrowbone, Suspiria) in X – A Sexy Horror Story.
Nel prequel l’attrice torna a interpretare Pearl, questa volta più giovane, e al suo fianco ci sono anche David Corenswet, Tandi Wright, Matthew Sunderland ed Emma Jenkins-Purro.
Ambientato durante la prima guerra mondiale nel 1918, il nuovo film di Ti West si concentra sugli eventi che si svolgono prima di X and explore how the chalet, the site of the massacre, was once used as a boarding house during the war.
Plot: Trapped on her family's farm, Pearl must care for her ailing father under her mother's close supervision. The young woman longs for a life like the one in the movies, but her ambitions, temptations, and repressions will eventually clash.

Il film sarà presentato in anteprima mondiale fuori concorso alla Mostra del cinema di Venezia 2022 mentre arriverà nelle sale USA il 16 settembre.
