Outcast is the title of the new horror TV series produced by Fox International Studios, which will be broadcast in Italy from June 6, 2016 on Fox, while in America it will be shown on Cinemax from June 3. In the United States, the choice of this channel is driven by the need to prevent censorship (likely on other channels) in order to enjoy a linear story without truncations and with the right scenes of violence and sex. However, it has been confirmed that there will be no censorship in other countries either, including Italy.
As The Walking Dead, also Outcast is based on the original comic book created by Robert Kirkman and illustrated by Paul Azaceta. The first season of Outcast, which has already been renewed for a second season, consists of 10 episodes. The series is set in Rome, a fictional town, where the lives of the protagonists are shaken by supernatural events. Adam Winger directs the pilot.
Below is a presentation of some of the main characters and the names of the actors who play them:
- The protagonist of the series is Kyle Barnes (played by Patrick Fugit), a character who has always been immersed in supernatural experiences and who lives as an outcast in an attempt to dispel the darkness that torments him. Faced with possessions, he will question why they happen.
- The Reverend Anderson is played by Philip Glenister. He is a man who acts according to God's will and seeks to drive out the evil that surrounds him and also that which invades him. He is a very dark character, partly because he has to deal with demons, possessions, and exorcisms.
- Wrenn Schmidt is Megan Holter, Kyle's sweet half-sister. She tries everything she can to help her brother overcome his fears and live peacefully.
- Reg E. Cathey plays the Chief of Police of Rome. This role is not very important in the comic, but it will play a major part in the series. The terrible situations the policeman will have to face will lead him to have doubts about his job and the task he has to perform in the city.
