We report below the Official Selections of the category "Best Bizarre" of the fifth edition of theOptical Theatre Horror Film Festival.
As a reminder, the awards ceremony will be held on the November 15 in Rome, at the cultural association INTERNO 4 (here for more info).
The Official Selections of the category "Best Bizarre“:
– The Iced Hunter (Italy - 2018) by Davide Cancila - LUNGOMETRAGE;
– The Huntress - Rune of the Dead (Sweden - 2019) by Rasmus Tirzitis - LUNGOMETRAGE;
– Atomic Spot (France - 2017) by Stephanie Cabdevila - SHORT FILM.
Produced, written and directed by Davide Cancila, The Iced Hunter is a fantasy/action/horror genre film that deals with the events of the "Ice Hunter," a character introduced in the short film of the same name directed by the same director in 2005 and, subsequently, also taken up in the 2009 one titled Origin of demons.
Plot: the Ice Hunter (Ivan King) relives his past life where Rafael (Alex Lucchesi), his mentor, taught him to use his powers. In addition to memories, the Ice Hunter will be pursued by the "Wolf Domains," the adherents of a cult that carries a hellish hound. During the escape, an encounter with Sara (Gea Martina Landini) will give the strange and mysterious individual a glimmer of salvation.
In the cast of The Iced Hunter: Alex Lucchesi (Beautiful People), Alessio Cherubini (Virus: Extreme Contamination), Ivan King (Adrenaline - "Encore" segment), Federico Mariotti (Io sono morta) and Federica Bertolani (I rec u). They are also joined by Duccio Mantellassi, Gea Martina Landini, Richard Joseph Burton, Alberto Marconcini, Saverio Monni, Alberto Orlandi and Julia Werecat.
The special effects were made by "CreaFx" (a studio in Scandicci).

The Huntress - Rune of the Dead is a Swedish viking horror film directed by Rasmus Tirzitis (Vilsen).
The screenplay is by the director himself in collaboration with Faravid Af Ugglas, the producer of Legend of Dark Rider: The Beginning and Draug.
Plot: 811 AD. A very poor family lives isolated in a house deep in the woods a few days' journey from Birka. The head of the family goes away on a Viking raid and never returns, while Runa (Moa Enqvist Stefansdotter), the eldest daughter, takes his place caring for his family, hoping that one day she will be able to embrace him again.
Gradually the girl becomes convinced that something very dangerous is lurking in the forest. One day when she is out hunting, Runa finds a wounded warrior whom she rescues and takes in to care for him. The stranger brings news of her father and may have been sent to protect the girl and her family from an approaching evil.

Directed by Stephanie Cabdevila (here in her second short film), Atomic Spot Is a horror fantasy about an amphibious creature.
Plot: credeemed dead after a plane crashed into the nuclear power plant, workers in a small coastal town underwent a series of physical mutations. The survivors formed a small amphibious community among the radioactive ruins but were unable to reproduce their species.
Cotis, the last survivor, is ravaged by loneliness until, one day, a group of surfers lands on his beach.

The screenplay was written by Charlotte Sanson while Pierre Olivier Persin is the effects designer.
