The black comedy Nimby - Not in My Backyard will premiere at the Noir in Festival in Milan next month, then arrive in theaters and streaming on IWONDERFULL.it, the streaming platform of I Wonder Pictures in collaboration with MYmovies, on Dec. 14.
The film is directed by Teemu Nikki, director who won the Audience Award at the Venice International Film Festival (Horizons Extra section) with The blind man who didn't want to see Titanic.
Nimby is a black comedy in which the Finnish director finds the cues to talk about the contemporary world with sharp social criticism.
The story sheds light on two young people in love who decide to come out to their respective families. A decision that will spark a small, unimaginable war.
Plot: Marv and Cara live in Helsinki and are in love but their life as a couple has come to a crossroads. The sudden announcement of a visit from Cara's parents, whose mother is the head of the United Nations refugee agency, confronts them with the need to confess their relationship to their respective families.
The two sweethearts thus decide to travel to Mary's hometown, but once there, they are confronted with a neo-Nazi demonstration in which the girl's ex-boyfriend is also involved. This, however, will only be the first nasty surprise they will encounter..
Nimby is Teemu Nikki's fourth film distributed by I Wonder Pictures after Lovemilla, Euthanizer and The blind man who didn't want to see Titanic.
On IWONDERFULL.co.uk and the IWONDERFULL Prime Video Channel, the three films released so far in Italy are available. From December 14 there will also be Nimby.
