The filming of Nightmare Alley, the new film by Oscar-winning director Guillermo Del Toro (The Shape of Water).
Announced in 2017, the crime thriller Nightmare Alley is the film adaptation of the novel of the same name written in 1946 by William Lindsay Gresham. A film adaptation already exists of the literary work: The Fair of Illusions (1947) by Edmund Goulding.
The protagonist of the story is a young and ambitious con man who associates with an equally corrupt and untrustworthy psychiatrist. The two become partners and join forces to con people for money but the woman ends up deceiving her colleague as well.
In the cast of Nightmare Alley star Bradley Cooper (Next Stop: Hell), Willem Dafoe (The Lighthouse), Toni Collette (Hereditary - The Roots of Evil), David Strathairn (The Assassin's Web), Rooney Mara (Nightmare - 2010), Michael Shannon (Bug - Paranoia is Contagious), Richard Jenkins (Wolf - The Beast is Out), Ron Perlman (Hellboy) and Mark Povinelli.
The screenplay for the film is by Guillermo Del Toro in collaboration with Kim Morgan.
