Warner Bros. Entertainment has released, online, the new official images of Night of the Animated Dead, animated film and color remake of the cult Night of the Living Dead (1968) by George A. Romero.
Written by John A. Russo, Night of the Animated Dead is directed by Jason Axinn, the director of the animated horror film To Your Last Death (2019). The voice cast instead includes Josh Duhamel, Dulé Hill, Katharine Isabelle, James Roday Rodriguez, Katee Sackhoff, Will Sasso, Jimmi Simpson, and Nancy Travis.
The film will be available for VOD starting September 21 while the home video release date has been set for October 5, 2021 (US market).
Considered the precursor of the zombie movie genre, Night of the Living Dead (1968) is the first of six films directed by George Romero. This was followed by. Dawn of the Dead (1978), Day of the Dead (1985), Land of the Dead (2005), Diary of the Dead (2007) and Survival of the Dead (2009). These last two chapters are unrelated to the previous four films and are part of a new narrative universe.
Two remakes have been made over the years: Night of the Living Dead (1990) by Tom Savini and Night of the Living Dead 3D (2006) by Jeff Broadstreet.
