Online the new Italian clip of Nest of vipers (aka Beasts Clawing At Straws), the blockbuster South Korean thriller/noir directed by Kim Yong-hoon. Inspired by the pulp atmospheres of Tarantino and the noir atmospheres of the Coen brothers, Nest of vipers is based on the novel of the same name by Japanese mystery writer Keisuke Sone and will arrive in Italian cinemas on September 15 with Officine Ubu.
In Nest of vipers, the fates of some people on the margins of society become unpredictably and dangerously intertwined with that of a janitor when the latter finds a bag full of money. The unexpected treasure, however, will become a double-edged sword, bringing to light a web of stories of ruthless crooks and miserable existences.
Plot: A janitor caring for his ailing mother finds a bag of money in a locker at the sauna where he works, which he decides to keep. Little does the man know, however, that connected to that money are the lives of ruthless crooks: an indebted customs officer, a vicious loan shark, a young escort with an abusive husband, a cunning con artist, and an illegal immigrant who hunt each other in an attempt to get their hands on that money. Between murders, betrayals, strokes of luck and misfortune, the protagonists' destinies will intersect, getting them into bigger and bigger trouble...
In the cast of Nest of vipers appear Jeon Do-yeon (The Housemaid), Jung Woo-sung (The Good, the Mad, the Bad), Youn Yuh-jung (The Housemaid), Bae Sung-Woo, Jeong Man-Sik, Shin Hyun-bin, Jung Ga-ram, and Jin Kyung.
The film won the "Special Jury Prize" at the Rotterdam Film Festival.
