Written and directed by Marc Meyers, My Friend Dahmer (US - 2017) is an adaptation of the graphic novel of the same name by Derf (John Backderf). The film, which is scheduled to be released in U.S. theaters in the fall, sheds light on the story of Dahmer (known as the "Milwaukee cannibal") and in particular on his adolescence before he turned into a heinous murderer. In fact, the story focuses on the protagonist's school days, who is presented here as a weak and troubled, abused individual. Giving the face of the young Dahmer is actor Ross Lynch.
Plot of My Friend Dahmer: Jeffrey Dahmer (Ross Lynch) is a shy teenager who, in addition to having family problems, must also struggle with school bullies. The boy is a collector of dead animal carcasses and does not have a good relationship with either his peers or his parents (Anne Heche and Dallas Roberts). Jeffrey begins to behave more and more strangely, until he reaches high levels of depravity. Now out of control, the young man sinks into a spiral of madness.
In the cast of My Friend Dahmer: Ross Lynch, Anne Heche, Vincent Kartheiser, Alex Wolff, Dallas Roberts, Miles Robbins, Carmen Gangale, Cameron McKendry, Tommy Nelson, Christopher Mele, Harrison Holzer, Gary Lee Vincent, and Dave Sorboro.
Rapist, necrophile, and cannibal Jeffrey Dahmer (1960-1994) was accused of raping and killing seventeen men and boys between 1978 and 1991.
Remains of corpses stored in the refrigerator (including heads and hands), painted human skulls, penises preserved in formaldehyde, and photographs of dismembered corpses were found in his apartment.
Several films have been made about this serial killer including the atrocious Dahmer (USA - 2002) by David Jacobson, with an extraordinary Jeremy Renner as the murderer.
