Mortal Kombat: new poster for the film based on the video game franchise of the same name

With a message on Twitter, actor Lewis Tan shared the new poster of Mortal Kombat (Australia, USA - 2021), the film based on the video game fighting game franchise of the same name created in 1992 by Ed Boon and John Tobias for Midway Games.
The film will be released in U.S. theaters and on HBO Max on April 16, 2022, while it will soon be distributed worldwide by Warner Bros. Pictures.

Directed by newcomer Simon McQuoid, Mortal Kombat (aka Shingeki no kyojin) follows the story of street fighter Cole Young (Lewis Tan), a man used to fighting for money. However, the fighter is unaware of his origins and why Outworld Emperor Shang Tsung has hired Sub-Zero (his strongest and most ruthless warrior) and other other otherworldly Cryomancers to hunt him down.
Concerned for the safety of his family, Cole tries to get on the trail of Sonya Blade in charge of Jax, Major of Special Forces. Soon, the man will find himself in the temple of Lord Raiden, Ancient God and Protector of Earthrealm, who provides shelter to all who bear a mark like his and Sonya's. Here, Cole will train with experienced warriors ahead of combat with Earth's greatest champions as well as enemies of the Outworld, in a long and bloody battle in which the fate of the universe is at stake.

In Mortal Kombat Lewis Tan plays Cole Young (Deadpool 2), Hiroyuki Sanada is Hanzo Hasashi/Scorpion, Jessica McNamee (The Meg) takes the role of Sonya Blade, Josh Lawson instead that of Kano. And again, we find Tadanobu Asano as Lord Raiden, Mehcad Brooks as Jax, Ludi Lin (Aquaman) is Liu Kang, Chin Han as Shang Tsung, Joe Taslim plays Bi-Han/Sub-Zero, and finally Hiroyuki Sanada ("Skyscraper") is Hanzo Hasashi/Scorpion.
The screenplay of Mortal Kombat Is edited by Greg Russo and Dave Callaham.

The film is produced by James Wan (The Conjuring), Todd Garner (Into the Storm), E. Bennett Walsh (The Amazing Spider-Man 2) and Simon McQuoid himself.

We remember you that Mortal Kombat (1995) is directed by Paul W.S. Anderson. Subsequently, 1997 saw the release of Mortal Kombat: total destruction by John R. Leonetti while the TV series was released in 2011.
