Ahead of the U.S. release, Warner Bros. Pictures and HBO have released, online, the first seven minutes of Mortal Kombat (Australia, USA - 2021), il film basato sull'omonimo franchise di videogiochi picchiaduro a incontri creata nel 1992 da Ed Boon e John Tobias per Midway Games.
The film will be released in US theaters and on HBO Max on April 23. An official Italian date has not yet been announced at this time.
Diretto dall'esordiente Simon McQuoid, Mortal Kombat follows the story of street fighter Cole Young (Lewis Tan), a man used to fighting for money. However, the fighter is unaware of his origins and why Shang Tsung, the Emperor of the Outworld, has hired Sub-Zero, his strongest and most ruthless warrior, to hunt him down.
In the cast, Lewis Tan plays Cole Young, Hiroyuki Sanada is Hanzo Hasashi/Scorpion, Jessica McNamee takes the role of Sonya Blade, Josh Lawson instead that of Kano. And again, we find Tadanobu Asano as Raiden, Mehcad Brooks as Jax, Ludi Lin is Liu Kang, Chin Han as Shang Tsung, and finally Joe Taslim plays Bi-Han/Sub-Zero.
The screenplay of Mortal Kombat (aka Shingeki no kyojin) is edited by Greg Russo and Dave Callaham.
