Tati Gabrielle (The 100, The Terrifying Adventures of Sabrina) is in talks to join the cast of the sequel to Mortal Kombat (2021), the film based on the video game fighting franchise of the same name created in 1992 by Ed Boon and John Tobias for Midway Games.
The US actress has been chosen to play the assassin Jade, friend and bodyguard of Princess Kitana, a character who first appeared in the video game Mortal Kombat II.
In addition to Tati Gabrielle, confirmed in the cast is Karl Urban (Ghost Ship, The Boys) who will instead step into the role of Johnny Cage, a martial arts expert.
The film will be directed by Simon McQuoid, the director of the first installment while the screenplay will be by Jeremy Slater (The Lazarus Effect).
