John Geddes returns to the directing booth for a new genre film titled Hellmouth whose visionary trailer with strong references to 1950s cinema that immerses the viewer in a horror and surreal dimension can be viewed today.
The director has two other horror films behind him, Scarce and the particular Exit Humanity, a zombie movie with a post-American Civil War setting. In addition, Geddes is also known to be the producer of such titles as Septic Man, Monster Brawl and Ejecta, as well as his own films.
The screenplay was handled by Tony Burgess (Ejecta, Septic Man) while the cast includes Stephen McHattie, Siobhan Murphy, Boyd Banks, Mark Gibson, Julian Richings, Ari Millen and Bruce McDonald.
Canadian actor Stephen McHattie (A History of Violence, The Children of Cold Rock, Haunter) plays Charlie Baker, the janitor of a cemetery with little left to live. Before he draws his last breath, however, he is forced to take one last job that will take him on a long descent into darkness. Amid demons, monsters, medieval kingdoms, ghosts, the dead and gravestones, the man will embark on a hellish journey whose goal is to uncover the secret attached to a mysterious cemetery.
Hellmouth will premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival.
