Douglas Schulze (Dark Heaven, The Rain) signs on to direct. Mimesis: Nosferatu, a new reimagining of the horror classic. The film will arrive on streaming platforms and on DVD on Oct. 13 with Cinedigm.
Directed by Douglas Schulze himself in 2011, the zombie movie Mimesis: Night of the Living Dead is an homage to George Romero while instead Mimesis: Nosferatu focuses on vampirism and is a tribute to Nosferatu by F.W. Murnau.
"With the franchise Mimesis I want to pay homage to horror classics," revealed director Douglas Schulze.
Plot: At Harker Arts Academy, students would kill for a chance to perform in the school play. Unfortunately, this year may be the price to pay. When it is announced that the theme will be Nosferatu, the vampire classic by F.W. Murnau, no one will realize that they have unwittingly been caught up in a horror film. Before the curtain even rises, blood will begin to spill copiously.
The cast includes Lance Henriksen (Aliens - Final Clash, The Darkness Approaches), Allen Maldanado, Connor Alexander, Kristy Swanson, Julie Kline, Calhoun Koenig, Mandalynn Carlson, Derek Brandon, Spring Lyons, and Joseph Scott Anthony.
The screenplay was written by Schulze and Jeff Meyers.
