The Italian poster of Midsommar - Village of the Damned, the horror film about pagan worship. Written and directed by Ari Aster, the film will arrive in Italian theaters on July 25 thanks to Eagle Pictures.
After the surprising directorial debut with Hereditary - Le radici del male, Ari Aster returns behind the camera with the most anticipated horror film of the entire movie season for fans of the genre.
Presented as a post-apocalyptic "Scandinavian Folk Horror" and compared by the director himself to The Wicker Man and to Alice in Wonderland, Midsommar addresses the theme of midsummer, a very important holiday in the culture of Scandinavian and Baltic countries.
The protagonists of the story are Dani (Florence Pugh) and Christian (Jack Reynor) who, on the occasion of the traditional "Midsummer Festival," reach a Swedish village where their friend Josh (Will Poulter) will be waiting for them. From an idyllic retreat, this remote country village will quickly turn into a nightmarish place because of a pagan cult practiced there.
They complete the cast of Midsommar Florence Pugh, Jack Reynor, Julia Ragnarsson, William Jackson Harper, Will Poulter, Vilhem Blomgren, Ellora Torchia, and Archie Madekwe.
Oscar-winning director Jordan Peele, author of the acclaimed horror films Scappa - Get out and We (aka Us), he was deeply impressed by Midsommar, praising the second work of his colleague Ari Aster with these words: "Penso che Ari Aster abbia realizzato l'horror più idilliaco di tutti i tempi'"- ha dichiarato il cineasta - “Si è trattato delle immagini più atroci e inquietanti mai viste sul grande schermo.
