México Bárbaro: the first trailer for the Mexican horror anthology

barbarianMéxico Bárbaro (2014) is another horror (and gore) anthology that will soon join those currently so much in vogue among audiences around the world. Thus, straight from Mexico comes an anthology film that had been talked about earlier this year and of which, in anticipation of its premiere at the Sitges Film Festival, a trailer has finally been released, which you will find at the bottom of the article.

Eight Mexican directors are involved in the making of this work, each of whom directed a horror episode inspired by the folklore and legends of Mexico.

Mexico Barbarian is inspired by Mexican culture and tradition dealing with urban and rural stories but also legendary creatures such as the bogeyman. Among the characters and themes covered therefore we will find evil creatures, ghosts, trolls, Aztec sacrifices and the ever-present Mexican cult figure Santa Morte.

  • La cosa mas preciada by Isaac Ezbanmexico
  • Tzompantli by Laurette Flores Born
  • Siete veces siete by Ulises Guzman

  • Jaral de Berrios by Edgar Nito
  • Lo que importa es lo de adentro by Lex Ortega

The generic cast includes Mathias Retamal, Emi Kamito, Sara Camacho, Rubén Zerecero, Claudia Goytia, Anuar Zuñiga Naime, Dulce Alexa, and Gilean Alducin Luciano.
