L'horror psicologico belga Memento Mori (Belgio - 2018) sarà presentato al Marché du Film del Festival di Cannes (che avrà inizio l'8 maggio) da EuroObscura. Directed by Michael Vermaercke (here in his first feature film), the film deals with coma by reconstructing the traumatic events that induced it.
Director Michael Vermaercke called Memento Mori "un film sulle paure e sulle insicurezze degli adolescenti che stanno per entrare nell'età adulta".
La storia ruota intorno a Fleur (Charlotte De Wulf), un'adolescente bella, popolare e ricca, la cui vita sembra perfetta. La ragazza però nasconde un oscuro segreto che sarà rivelato durante una festa in piscina e dove un violento incidente la farà sprofondare in un sonno letargico.
The film is produced by Piet Sonck of Gypsy Productions.
Memento Mori was presented at BIFFF (Brussels International Fantastic Film Fest).
Director Michael Vermaercke is the author of The Disturber, il corto vincitore del First Prize all'International Vampire Film Festival In Transylvania in 2016.
