To mark the 50th anniversary of its first cinema release, the following is coming to multiplexes in the UCI Cinemas circuit (from November 29 to December 1) A Clockwork Orange, the cult film produced, written and directed by Stanley Kubrick in 1971 and masterfully performed by Malcolm McDowell (Kiss of the Panther).
On the strength of four 1972 Oscar nominations for Best Picture, Best Director, Best Adapted Screenplay and Best Editing, the masterpiece A Clockwork Orange is based on the dystopian novel of the same name written by Anthony Burgess in 1962, a literary work that mirrors a society devoted to exaggerated violence, especially in young people, and systematic thought conditioning.
The story takes place in London, in an unspecified future, where Alexander "Alex" DeLarge (Malcolm McDowell), a humble, antisocial family boy and leader of the Druze criminal gang, lives. The four members spend their free time engaging in sex, theft and "ultraviolence." The gang's meeting point is the local Korova Milk Bar, where they can consume "lattepiù," or milk enhanced with mescaline and other drugs.
A Clockwork Orange will be screened from November 29 to December 1 at UCI Bicocca (MI), UCI Luxe Campi Bisenzio, UCI Meridiana Casalecchio di Reno (BO), UCI Casoria (NA), UCI Montano Lucino (CO), UCI Curno (BG), UCI Ferrara (FE), UCI Firenze (FI), UCI Fiume Veneto (PN), UCI Fiumara (GE), UCI Lissone (MB), UCI Cinepolis Marcianise (CE), UCI Luxe Marcon (VE), UCI MilanoFiori (MI), UCI Molfetta (BA), UCI Moncalieri (TO), UCI Orio (BG), UCI Parco Leonardo (RM), UCI Perugia (PG), UCI Piacenza (PC) UCI Porta di Roma (RM), UCI Reggio Emilia (RE), UCI Romagna Savignano sul Rubicone (RN), UCI RomaEst (RM) and UCI Torino Lingotto (TO), UCI Sinalunga (SI) and UCI Verona (VR).
