May 2022: horror movies in theaters

Cinema programming for the month of May includes horror films The Bunker Game by Roberto Zazzara and Firestarter by Keith Thomas Brown along with the disturbing drama Worship directed by Fabrice Du Welz.

Special event at the cinema sMAY 2 and 3: The Bunker Game

  • Distributed by Eagle Pictures, The Bunker Game (2021) hits theaters on May 2. The film is written and directed by Roberto Zazzara and stars Gaia Weiss and Lorenzo Richelmy.
    Plot: a group of people are engaged in a role-playing game taking place in a giant underground bunker. After some incidents, someone will try to interrupt it, and in order to try to understand the origin of the unforeseen events before restarting the challenge, the organizers will have to clarify what happened and, for that, they decide to stay in place...
    The cast also includes Mark David, Tudor Istodor, Makita Samba, Amina Ben Ismaïl, Serena de Ferrari, Felice Jankell, Marco Lascari, and Nicolo Pasetti.

MAY 12: Firestarter

  • Produced by Universal, Weed Road Pictures and Blumhouse, Firestarter is the new adaptation of The incendiary (Firestarter), a science fiction horror novel written by Stephen King in 1980 and from which Mark M. Lester was inspired for his Uncontrollable paranormal phenomena (1984).
    Firestarter is written by Scott Teems (Halloween Kills) and features Keith Thomas (The Vigil) as director.
    The film will debut in Italian theaters on May 12.
    Plot: because of her pyrokinetic abilities, little Charlie is kidnapped by a secret government agency that wants to harness her powerful gift as a weapon--but the little girl will not be easy to handle.
    In the cast: Ryan Kiera Armstrong (It - Chapter Two), Zac Efron (Ted Bundy - Criminal Charm), Sydney Lemmon, Gloria Reuben, Michael Greyeyes (Fear The Walking Dead, Blood Quantum), Kurtwood Smith (Amityville: The Awakening) and John Beasley (Anarchy: Judgment Night).

MAY 19: Adoration

  • With Wanted, May 19 arrives in Italian cinemas. Worship (Belgium, France - 2019), the thriller/drama by Fabrice du Welz (Vinyan, Alléluia), the director of the disturbing Calvaire (2004).
    The story of Worship sheds light on the sick and destructive love affair between two teenagers who, together, venture on a dangerous journey.
    Plot: 12-year-old Paul (Thomas Gioria) lives with his mother, who works in a psychiatric hospital located in the woods, right near their home. One day the boy meets Gloria (Fantine Harduin), a new and mysterious patient, his own age, with whom he immediately becomes infatuated. A deep friendship develops between the two, and Gloria convinces him to help her escape. The two will embark on a dangerous journey that will test the boy's feelings as the young woman begins to become unmanageable.
    The cast includes Thomas Gioria, Fantine Harduin, Benoît Poelvoorde, Laurent Lucas (Calvaire, Alléluia), Gwendolyn Gourvenec, Anaël Snoek (Cannibal) and Pierre Nisse (Laissez bronzer les cadavres).
