Three films in the horror genre will debut in Italian theaters this month. They are the long-awaited fantasy-horror Alien: Covenant, in theaters May 11, followed by the thriller/drama with horror overtones Escape - Get Out (May 18) and from the survival horror about killer sharks 47 meters (starting May 25).

May 11
Alien: Covenant (USA - 2017) is the second installment of the prequel trilogy that began with Prometheus (2012) and will link to Alien (1979). Ridley Scott, the creator of the saga, is directing. The screenplay, on the other hand, is by Michael Green, Jack Paglen and John Logan.
Plot: Crew members of the colonization spaceship "Covenant" reach a remote planet in the galaxy to start a new human colony. The place, seemingly peaceful and idyllic, will instead prove to be very dangerous. Inhabiting it is the android David (Michael Fassbender), the sole survivor of the failed Prometheus expedition.
The cast includes Michael Fassbender, Noomi Rapace, Jussie Smolett, James Franco, Danny McBride, Katherine Waterston, Demián Bichir, Callie Hernandez (Machete Kills), Amy Seimetz, Carmen Ejogo, and Billy Crudup.

May 18
Turned out to be a huge success in America, Escape - Get Out is the thriller/horror film marking the directorial debut of American comedian Jordan Peele.
The film, focused on racism, veers toward the dramatic genre not skimping on horror undertones.
Plot: Chris (Daniel Kaluuya) and Rose (Allison Williams) are a close-knit interracial couple (he African American and she white). Reluctantly, the young man agrees to spend a weekend at her parents', but once he arrives there, he will immediately notice strange behavior toward him on the part of the two adults and even their servants. His stay there will confront him with a chilling truth that will go beyond racism.

May 25
47 Meters (aka 47 Meters Down), is a survival horror about killer sharks. Directing it is Johannes Roberts, the director of the recent The Other Side of the Door.
The protagonists of the story are Kate (Claire Holt) and Lisa (Mandy Moore), two sisters vacationing in Mexico. Fun will give way to terror when they become trapped on the ocean floor during a cage dive, 47 meters from the surface. With an hour's supply of oxygen and surrounded by sharks, the two desperate tourists will attempt to get to safety.
In the cast of 47 Meters (UK - 2017) we find: Claire Holt, Mandy Moore, Yani Gellman, Santiago Segura, Matthew Modine, Chris Johnson and Axel Mansilla.
The screenplay for the film is by Johannes Roberts and Ernest Riera.
