A24 announced the production of MaXXXine, the third and final installment of the slasher horror saga X initiated by Ti West (The House of the Devil, The Innkeepers) with X and continued with the prequel Pearl.
The screenplay and direction of this latest installment of the trilogy is by Ti West.
In MaXXXine, Mia Goth (Marrowbone, Suspiria) returns to the role of Maxine after the events of X, playing a girl who pursues success by being an actress in 1980s Los Angeles.
In this concluding installment of the trilogy, Mia Goth is joined by Kevin Bacon (The Man Without a Shadow), Elizabeth Debicki (The Web of Deception), Lily Collins (Ted Bundy - Criminal Charm), Giancarlo Esposito (The Usual Suspects), Michelle Monaghan (Blood), Bobby Cannavale (Ant-man), Moses Sumney, and Halsey.
We remember you that Pearl (2022) is the prequel to the horror slasher X (2022) and centers on the character Pearl, the elderly woman played by Mia Goth (Marrowbone, Suspiria) in the first chapter. In the prequel, however, we find the actress in the role of an ambitious young woman living with her parents, and the story takes place in 1918.
