American distribution house IFC Midnight has acquired the rights to Asmodexia, the horror genre film about demonic possession directed by Spaniard Marc Carreté. As in his two previous works, the short genre films Castidermia and Mal Cuerpo, the director also handled the screenplay.
Asmodexia is thus his first feature film (winner as Best Film at Fantaspoa 2014) in whose writing phase Carreté was joined by Mike Hostench (From the Depths of Darkness), while Ms Entertainment instead handled production.
Like a virus, demonic possession is spreading like wildfire invading the bodies and tormenting the souls of many people. Exorcist pastor Eloy de Palma and his niece Alba are the only ones who intervene to help the possessed fight the demon. Weaker people such as children, drug addicts and the mentally ill are easy prey for Evil.
A mysterious cult makes healing from the evil one difficult, and exorcisms become increasingly impossible to perform, turning each session into a real battle against the Devil.
The cast of Asmodexia is composed of LluÃs Marco, Clà udia Pons (Castidermia), Irene Montalà (Insensibles, Rottweiler), SÃlvia Sabaté, Albert Baró, Ramon Canals and Marina Durán.
A wait remains for Asmodexia's release date. In the meantime, let's take a look at the powerful trailer that features excellent sequences of diabolical possession.
