Although a release date for the film (postponed to a date to be determined due to the still ongoing pandemic) has not yet been announced, Malignant received a Rating R for "strong violent content, gruesome images and inappropriate language."
Malignant marks James Wan's ("Saw," "The Conjuring") return to the horror genre after directing Aquaman (2018) starring Jason Momoa.
At present, the plot has not yet been revealed while the cast consists of Jake Abel, Maddie Hasson, Annabelle Wallis, George Young, Michole Briana White, Jacqueline McKenzie and Ingrid Bisu (The Nun - The Calling of Evil). The latter, in addition to playing a mystery role about which no details are yet available, also falls under the crew of Malignant as co-writer and executive producer.
Malignant is co-written and co-produced by James Wan himself with his Atomic Monster, while Richard Brener, Eric McLeod, Judson Scott and Peter Luo of Starlight Media are the executive producers.
Previously, James Wan stated. Malignant represents his return to his "indie roots": indeed, it will be an old school film with abundant practical effects.
