Mad Heidi è il titolo del film di genere commedia horror e parodia di Heidi, il personaggio dell'omonima serie animata prodotta nel 1974 e basata sul romanzo per ragazzi scritto nel 1880 dall'autrice svizzera Johanna Spyri.
Presentato come il primo film "Swissploitation", Mad Heidi è prodotto da Tero Kaukomaa (Iron Sky) e da Valentin Greutert (Paradise War) e vede alla regia l'esordiente regista svizzero Johannes Hartmann.
Lo sceneggiatore, attore, regista e produttore statunitense Trent Haaga invece è coinvolto nella sceneggiatura del film. Quest'ultimo ha dichiarato "Sono sempre stato un grande fan dei film d'exploitation - dagli spaghetti western, ai film sul kung-fu e al cinema degli anni '60. Considero Mad Heidi come una lettera d'amore nei confronti di questo cinema... Mad Heidi is also a futuristic fairy tale heavily inspired by a classic and much-loved novel".
Plot: Now grown up, Heidi is an Alpine girl in an alternative Switzerland that has fallen under fascist rule. Her desire for freedom will be the spark that ignites a revolution.
