Lost River is the title of the black fairy tale with surreal touches written and directed by actor Ryan Gosling, who also makes his directorial debut with this film. The cast boasts such notable names as the immense Barbara Steele, Saoirse Ronan, Eva Mendes, Christina Hendricks, joined by Matt Smith, Iain De Caestecker, Reda Kateb and many others. The music is by Johnny Jewel.
This interesting dark, evocative and visionary fable focuses on ideals such as love, family and the struggle for survival. The protagonist of the story is Billy (Christina Hendricks), a single mother living in an abandoned town called Lost River. In order not to lose the home of her childhood 
and her family as well, the woman is willing to do anything. Her teenage son Bones (Iain De Casestecker) accidentally discovers the origins and curse of the place where she lives and, curious, gets swept up in a mysterious journey.
Lost River will premiere at SXSW in Austin on March 14. It will be followed by its distribution for video on demand and in U.S. theaters on April 10.
